In short, this is a very good product and I am planning to buy it again. The mats are solid and sturdy whilst being light, so easy to move around. I have put my exercise bike and a weights bench on these, both of which are quite heavy. They have left marks in the mats, which you would expect, but these are merely superficial due to the thickness of the mats. The interlocking edges are a brilliant idea. They're very easy to use whilst being surprisingly effective. I have used them on a carpet and the mats haven't moved or slid when using my exercise equipment. These mats would be very suitable to heavy appliances, such as washing machines and fridges, but you need to consider that they are of a set size. Finally, the price for these mats was very reasonable - cheaper than elsewhere I looked on the 'net.

Alright, so my new apartment is on the ground floor, so neigbours will not be poking their ceilings with brooms to shut me up. BUT, it is echoy in here, any thuds will sound like a shotgun going off. As a home gymmer, this made me very sad; after a few weeks of lifting like a sissy with dumbbells, I thought the hell with this and looked into solutions. If you're looking to lift heavy with a barbell in your apartment, I can recommend these. I currently use 2x pads doubled up to cushion my olympic barbell on the wooden, carpeted floor. The first test I performed was dropping a loaded up 25kg dumbbell from a realisitic drop height (e.g dropping while laying on a bench for instance). Not a thud! Wonderful. The mats ate up the sound like I do with a postworkout meal. After a full Oly bar workout, rows and deadlifts are now fine to do inside, the thunderous thumps are now replaced with clickety-clangs of the plates doing their thing. Although to be fair I have not deadlifted HEAVY on them, perhaps I will report back when my deadlift work-weight is nearing a small car, not a small child. Good stuff folks, for those worrying about thuds, this literally eats up the sound nicely. Even chucking down heavy things on it, I don't think it's going to rip because it's all rubber, there's nothing to rip! It feels hard, and soft at the same time.

I bought 2 packs of these for Insanity because I have a tiled floor flat and it was killing my knees! This has worked really, really well. It stands firm under plyometric exercises, looks neat with the edging and is fairly reasonably priced. My only issue is that I have had to use some of the ikea grippy mat stuff underneath to stop it slipping. Now this does the trick so I now have a perfect solution but it's the reason I stopped short of 5 stars!

Very useful. Bought these to minimise noise from free weights, and to place underneath a power rack to protect wooden floor. Seem to do the job very well, interlockable, easy to hoover and clean. Living on a loft with a wooden floor, I use one layer of these to minimise noise from the barbell hitting the rack, and put two layers on floor when doing deadlifts, which absorbs the impact much better than I thought it would. Great product and quick delivery. Can now workout on wooden floors and carpets without fear of damaging. I bought 2 x 4 pieces to make a large workout surface (cheaper than an equivalent mat, see photos). I use it for insanity and Kung fu training / sparing. Lay with the smooth side down ( I didn't believe it at first either), doesn't slip on my hard wood floor at all! Fits together easily and dismantles into a small pile of pieces. Great value hard wearing, both adaptive and functional. It is also a great crawling surface for my 6 month old daughter, only downside is the cat loves it!

Bought these to use on our carpeted floor for the Insanity workout to help protect our knees and stop the carpet burn! Easy to slot together and remain together no matter how hard we work out. Come with attached edges and look much better for it. Provide good cushioning for the landing after jumps. Stick to the carpet well with little or no movement. Good stickiness to the surface even when we are dripping in sweat and no more carpet burn. A good buy

I got these to go under a heavy exercise bike used in a floored out loft over our sitting room, so I wanted to both protect the floor (too much work to replace any of it!) and reduce noise going into the room below. Haven't had the mats long enough to see how well they really last, but first impression is of good quality, & they'll certainly protect the floor as long as they last. The 4 mats come with 2 edges ready to interlock with neighbours & the other 2 with a strip already interlocked, so once assembled (very easy - just jigsaw-skills needed) into a 2x2 array the outside edge is smooth and the meshing "teeth" are protected. I recommend these to anyone needing such kit.

Ok things to notice with this, if you have a shiny floor, light wood / laminated flooring etc, these will not work as they are. You WILL slide across the floor and it is damn dangerous. However, there is a way around this (at an additional cost) - I went to my local carpet shop and got a rug grip, placed this down on the floor and then these mats on top. This will eliminate the sliding on the floor, ok so thats good. You can then cut the gripper and stick it to the bottom of the mats. The mat surface is pretty good at being non-slip, it's not 100% non slip but very good, soft enough to cushion the impact of all the moves. One thing is that you have to be pretty patient when assembling if you have more than one pack, some of the joins aren't perfect so you need to move them around a bit and push them together, however with the rug grip on this is no real issue. tl:dr - If you have a smooth floor, don't get unless you are prepared to modify.
